During the several years of production , I was lucky enough to be part of two scouting trips around the western states. The upcoming serie of posts will be devoted to sketches and paintings done on these occasions.
That day, we woke before dawn to a spectacular thunderstorm lighting the whole valley whith purple flashes. Later on, we learned how sticky the red dirt in this area can be when it turns to mud.

Well, it is not my favorite palette I must say (a bit too sweet), but sometimes you just have to paint what is in front of you. Glad you like it.
