Hi Sim, Actually, this rural region of gentle hills and many rivers is pretty much in the middle of the country and is known as the Loire valley. It is famous for its innumerable castles including most of the architectural masterpieces of the french Renaissance. Cheers.
beautiful luc. years ago I had the dream to bike through the whole loire valley, stop wherever it was the most beautiful, look at all the castles, sleep in a tent and just enjoy the beauty of that area. of course I never did it. the closest I ever came was the BEAUTY and BEAST disney research trip for a few days. what a good time. not just the jewels of castles, the landscape, no - more, the food, the wine... it looks like you did it?
Hi Hans, Well I wasn't on a bike, although it's a wonderful idea. In fact, we did the next best thing which was to rent a small Manor House for a few weeks near Azay-le-Rideau. The property extended all the way to the river and this is were some of those were painted. Friends and family came to visit and we explored the region together. I remember with particular fondness the farmer's market in Azay in the morning and the long conversations after dinner in the balmy summer nights. Cheers.
luc, I am so jealous!! it looks like out of the last ridley scott movie A GOOD YEAR. wouldn't it be nice to retire there? I remember azay le rideau very well, we stayed in the same area with the disney guys. and there were the most beautiful castles. wish I will be able to go back there soon...
Hey Hans, If you happen to travel to Los Angeles in the future, don't hesitate to stop by, we'll talk about travels, art, and moviemaking around a drink and a nice dinner. Cheers.

Hi Neil, Well you know, some of those Moleskine sketchbooks are made of such wonderful paper, they keep their shape very well. Besides, I only manage to do a couple of those a year so it has plenty of time to dry and straighten up. Congrats on your show. Cheers.
